Welcome to the first edition of ICONic Connections – the e-newsletter written with you – the independent consultant – in mind. Why a newsletter and an online community and special programs just for ICONs? Here’s why. . .
We all want to win the big client. IBM, Wal-mart, GE, Microsoft are all great names to have on a customer list. Not only do they bring big budgets, but the credibility of having been selected by such a successful organization. Bigger is better.
But when you look closely another picture becomes clear: small is beautiful. Clients and customers who may not have the dollars or employees of the “Big Guys”, but who make up just as big a part of your business. More than that, these are the ambassadors and champions who bring your product into the big companies, the up-and-coming organizations, the start-ups. These are not just customers, these are the face of your product to their customers – the big guys.
These champions are Independent Consultants – the ICONs. YOU are the champions. While CPP may write the melody and the lyrics, you go out there and “wow” the crowd with your performance. Champions , idols. . .ICONs – of your craft and of personality assessments.
This newsletter will bring you news and information about personality assessments as well as about the training and development marketplace. The stories in this issue of ICONic Connections are meant for us to get acquainted and hit the ground running with interesting and engaging content. John Lord’s introduction to the Association for Psychological Type International’s (APTi) role in the ICON Success online community offers background on APTi as well as the development of the online community. Patrick Kerwin’s article on starting your own practice is a great guide for new practitioners, those longing to run their own show, and is a valuable review for old-hands. We also have industry facts that can be valuable additions to the right proposal. Also, we hope to see you at the various shows we will be attending during spring and summer 2008.
Please enjoy this newsletter and let us hear your thoughts and feedback on what you read. You can email us at Mshur@cpp.com or go on the CPP ICON Success community to give your feedback on the forums.
